The A18 is the world’s first automatic, self-resetting trap for the Grey Squirrel. When installed, the trap can humanely dispatch 18 Grey Squirrels, one after the other. The trap comes with a counter to show the number of strikes should the
dispatched squirrel be scavenged. A tree mount & stainless steel screws are easily attached to a tree, post, etc. Hazelnut Lure, CO2, and success guide are all included too.
The A18 squirrel trap was rigorously tested by government bodies and meets legislation for humaneness and use by all individuals, be it domestic or professional.
Controlling grey squirrels will provide much-needed support for Britain’s Songbirds, Native Red Squirrel, and Broadleaf Woodland.
Our digital counter lets you know how many grey squirrels have been dispatched. When the counter hits 18, you know it’s time to replace the CO2 Canister.
The A18 Back Plate is easily fitted behind the Mounting Bracket, offering excellent protection to non-target species while enabling the trap to perform efficiently and humanely.

Everything claimed about this trap is true. Beautifully built, and, with patience, effective. What is not claimed, is the incredible customer service. Last year, my original trap started to lose pressure, presumably a corroded seal. One email to Vance resulted in a sparkly new trap by return, no questions asked. I also bought the guard to stop the little buggers eating the top of the trap. Recently I moved it, and forgot to reinstall the guard. Large hole soon appeared! Email, “can I buy a new top please?” No reply, just another brand new top via DPD. Am trying to get a bill from them, but so far no joy. Service second to none!!

First day I had one hit. I adjusted the amount of lure outside the trap and the next day I had seven! Superb item. Easy set up and use. The screws could do with being a couple of centimetres longer, but that’s a minor niggle.
Jez –
Been up a almost week mounted on a post under an ash tree. Didn’t appear to have any interest in the supplied lure, so changed to peanut butter. Smeared some on the post too. Now two confirmed gone – though the counter shows nothing. Critters were a couple of feet from the bottom of the post so suspect the despatch was not clean – but wasn’t there to do anything about it.
They’d begun to access the soffit around the house (despite no trees nearby), I suspect for storing food, but may have been nesting. Hopefully this will eliminate them completely. The most I’d seen at any one time is three, so maybe only one more! But maybe we’ll get more birds now too.

Don’t normally do reviews, but this is an exceptional product. Sounds a bit cheesy but, fitted my trap on the night of the 26th April 2023, by lunchtime the next day, I had 4 hits. Pretty sure this is going to resolve my squirrel problem.

Incredible product. I fitted the A18 to a tree at the end of my garden, a garden that has been blighted by squirrels for years. Trees destroyed, flowers eaten, apples snatched… I’m writing this review after just 48 hours of the trap being live. I have dispatched NINETEEN squirrels. It has worked better than I ever could have expected. I really hope my family and I now have our garden back from these awful (although cute in appearance) pests.

Set up the trap on 27 March and have so far killed seven. Still one coming in to raid bird feeders so have relocated to its preferred attack line.

Not even been up a week, 3 squirrels despatched. Counter on 2 and I’ve done 2 test,s, so should at least be at least on 5. But hey it’s doing the job!

I have had the trap in my garden for 2 months, the squirrels are having a laugh, I have moved it to a different tree, changed the bait, put a trail of peanuts up to the trap, nothing. So I put my trail cam in a tree opposite, I now have 31 videos of squirrels all around the tree, climbing up the tree to take the peanuts, but will they go in the trap? No, so for me it has been a complete waste of money, anybody want a second hand trap? Never used in as new condition.

Trap arrived Saturday, fitted Sunday , the two squirrels living in my roof were dead on Tuesday . Job done.

This is a good well constructed trap. I have at least 8 confirmed kills (meaning I have had to bury the bodies) and more probable kills. On one occasion I saw the kill from our landing window and on investigation found not one but three bodies. Unfortunately two of the 8 were not dead but obviously severely injured and these I had to dispatch with a heavy metal spike. On the last occasion I changed the gas capsule (at 15 kills) as I suspected that it had run out of charge – which it had. Around an hour or so later I had the first kill on the new capsule – which unfortunately was one of the injured animals as mentioned above. I also found a dead crow or rook on one occasion which I think was probably due to the trap. It is mounted on an ash tree which is used as a nesting place for crows as well as the squirrels.
In conclusion it does work well generally, but sadly not always humanely.

Amazing trap. We live in area surrounded by many trees, which also means we have overwhelming amount of grey squirrels around. We have this trap for over a year and managed to dispatch many of them already. We had to move the trap around few times and also create simple ramp for them to access the bottom of the trap (its mounted on the fence) which works wonders. All what you need to do its observe from the window or distance and watch their behaviour, simple as that. I also created my own recipe for lure, which works better then the one from good nature and better then peanut butter. Here it is : hazelnuts, few sunflower seeds and bit of sunflower oil, blend it all together until creamy. I put sunflower seeds, because we do have birdfeeders in the garden and this is mostly what attracts squirrels in. Unfortunately this year we did have one blue tit killed by the trap, which was very sad, we think it was looking for somewhere to nest and had to fly very fast up to get into the trap itself, as sad as this was I think this trap saved many more little birds from squirrels, but still hope this wont happen again, maybe we will cover the trap next spring when we will see blue tits starting to nest. The counter on our trap was essentially useless and confusing, also stopped working while still using first bottle of gas, we are not planning to replace it, its is really a waste of money. I have seen people mentioning, that sometimes trap didnt dispatch the squirrel and they had to do it themselves, this only happened to us once, so over all after using it for a longer time I would happily buy it again and I am recommending it to anyone who complains about squirrel problem.

After putting up with tree and lawn damage for four years after moving to a house behind a large wooded area, we discovered the squirrel trap and got five in the first few days. I strongly recommend using a guard. We didn’t at first and the screw-on top was chewed off. A few days later with a guard in place, number 6 has been dispatched and our trees are being left alone. An excellent solution and backed up by superb customer service.

Took delivery of the A18 squirrel trap and guard in early February 2022. It is a sturdy piece of kit which is reflected in the price.
We installed it and had 2 on the counter but no evidence. After 2 weeks we moved the trap to a tree at the bottom of the garden and promptly had a hit and the corpse to prove it. However over the past few weeks we have had a further 3 on the counter and no evidence. As Stuart Pickles has said, we fear one of the hits did not end the squirrel immediately as our neighbour commented on finding a dead squirrel by his shed which is about 12 feet from our trap and on the other side of a fence. We have potentially had 2 that were stunned only or killed and taken away in the night. I hope it is the latter. We check the trap counter most mornings as we are ever hopeful for evidence. We currently have at least 2 squirrels still active so are ever hopeful that they will soon be taken care of.
Nicholas –
Similar experience as Stuart Pickles. Initially squirrels used kit as gymnasium apparatus. Then 4 killed including one very large & heavy male. Followed by two that were stunned but recovered. Second one although disoriented, recovered enough to get up a tree before it could be dispatched. Alternating supplied bate with P-nut butter seems to work best.
Stuart Pickles –
This is a good trap and I have dispatched 9 squirrels, even though we thought we only had 2 or perhaps 3 visiting.
Unfortunately on at least two occasions The A18 failed to dispatch the target squirrel humanely.
First was what I thought was a dead squirrel under the trap, only to find it was still breathing though very lightly, obviously near death’s door. I had to dispatch it humanely with an air rifle.
Second was witnessing the trap going off and the squirrel falling to the ground, only to get up and stagger away. I watched it sit stunned for about 10 minutes then seemed to recover and scurry away.
Additionally there can be a fair bit of blood in some cases as it is effectively a hammer blow to the back of the squirrel’s head.
Overall very pleased despite the hiccups.
I was worried about birds getting into it, especially Great or Blue Tits, but luckily so far there have been no unwanted casualties.
4 Stars because it isn’t perfect, but then again nothing is.

AWESOME piece of kit!
Update on my review from 3 Dec (3 Squirrels in 3 days) … we are now 3 months in and have basically cleared out the problem – 20 squirrels down … and we haven’t seen one for the last 3 weeks. What makes it better still is that we now have regular visits from Kites and Buzzards to feast on the remains and a very happy local fox who finishes off any leftovers each evening …
I’m now buying the Rat Trap version to see how we get on with that … bring it on!
Lindsay A –
We had always been pestered by squirrels in our garden as we have a number of large trees for them to jump and swing through. We even had the pine tree cut down as the pine cones were a great food supply for them, also they just love digging up our lush green lawn. Now wow, after much research I found the A18. I was a little sceptical at spending this amount of money but so glad I took the plunge and bought one. In the first two weeks I managed to eliminate 21 of the little critters, then after a little lull would eliminate about one every three days. Family and friends were amazed at the success I have had with this trap and all want one now. I’m even so lucky we have a fox which visits regularly to remove the bodies for me. If you are thinking of buying one, do it, you won’t regret it, it really works!!!!
MLF –
Definitely works. Price-wise, can be hard to justify at first, but given that the squirrel was making regular trips to our loft, and they can cause fire damage if left unchecked, we had to buy one of these. The one we put in the loft failed to attract it, since it was impossible to set it up in its regular path. They are creatures of habit. So, once I had established its access route to the roof was via a tree at the other end of the house, we bought another one and fixed it to the trunk about 1.5m up. Nothing happened for over a fortnight, and I was beginning to give up any hope of dispatching. But then, yesterday, we found a carcass at the foot of the tree, which can now be felled.
If you buy one, be really patient and keep the faith. Experiment with different lure. Use latex gloves when setting it up to avoid your scent being transferred. I think squirrels need to become familiar with the existence of trap for a while before investigating more thoroughly. It also helps that other food sources have been made unavailable (eg, here it had depleted the natural food source from a fruit tree in next door’s garden so had to look for an alternative).

Well I’m 5 weeks in from setting my new squirrel trap.As cute as they might seem, from chewing through wires to destroying most gardens on my road, something had to be done.Price at first made me question the purchase, however 15 gone and harmony has returned .100% buy if your the same as its a fantastic product

7 stars !! Installed 3 days ago … 3 greys gone !! And to top it all we now get wonderful birds of prey in the garden waiting their turn for lunch.
Please invent one for mole trapping too.
Phil M. (verified owner) –
I was sceptical but it works. Like a previous reviewer, I have substituted peanut butter for the bait provided and, so far, we have two dead squirrels in four days.
Philip Adamson (verified owner) –
Suffice to say that in spite of looking cute, grey squirrels are an awful problem as is the neighbour I have who continues to feed them in spite of being asked not to. Enter A18 which I started using about a year ago. I thought there were probably 12 or 14 squirrels in the trees behind me. So far I’ve killed 43! Amazing piece of kit and the company office here in the UK are so helpful.
Martin Jones (verified owner) –
The trap has certainly proven to be a winner, my only observation and recommendation is to strengthen the top cap that screws over the bait bowl possibly with a metal cap. The clever little squirrels started to chew a hole in the plastic cap to get at the food.
Stewart Woroch –
Disappointed. What is an absolutely well constructed piece of kit, has produced disappointing returns. Purchased at the beginning of June, the counter has shown 2 activations but no corpses, even though a camera with fast shutter settings was set up to watch the trap. I have watched the Squirrels approach the entrance to the trap, but they never venture far enough into it. The trap has been moved around the garden as suggested, and a different lure tried, but still nothing. An expensive mistake, one that I could not recommend.
Stephen Brown –
Having set up the trap the squirrels disappeared from our garden. After about 4 days they started to return but took no notice of the lure paste that appeared to be breaking down to a almost liquid consistency. When I cleaned the trap and reset with peanut butter two squirrels were caught in a few hours.
Lindsay Aran (verified owner) –
Well its been 7 weeks now since I installed the A18 trap and although I was sceptical at first I followed the installation guide and within one day caught my first squirrel, now six weeks on 19 have fed and met their demise. The local fox has been delighted and taken away all of the bodies I send over the fence for him, if for some reason there is no kill for him he comes searching. We only live on a housing estate so really surprised how many squirrels have been entering our back garden, although our lawn is much the better without the little grey vermin digging it up. Just ordered the cover for my trap as it is very obvious the little blighters are chewing away at the post it is attached to and the trap itself to try to get at the bait from the top.

Amazing! Okay I was a skeptic at first wondering how best to deal with these bloody nucessences. Yes, they look all cute to a 10 year old in the park stud on its hind legs… but in actual fact they are garden destroyers, tree hulegons, and bird killers. We have a mature oak tree, some 100 year old English classic, which has had most of its bark chewed off. Nearby is a huge woodland area where these Grey Squirrels have set up an empire. In the garden, we have several Japanese Acer’s with many smashed to bits as the squirrels ran up the trunks and eat the bark. Then there is the lawn, and I did not want artificial grass as one person suggested… I wanted a nice lawn, not one dug up continuously as a feeding ground. Then the bird feeders… must have bought many squirrel proof feeders that turned out to be nothing more than an athletics assault course for these Grey Squirrels and meanwhile; no birds, broken wire, food gone, and mess.
So enough was enough after 6 plus years pondering the problem. After doing some digging around the internet for a long time, I stumbled upon the A24 at first for Rats. I might indeed buy one of these now to take out the local garden rat that I have seen on the odd occasion at the bottom of the yard. Upon further investigation… the A18 was revealed… which led to an amazing YouTube video of the squirrel dispatcher. My A18 and accessories arrived promptly, despite Covid, on Thursday. Since installing Thursday afternoon, one was dispatched. Then on Friday a further four were dispatched and today Saturday a further two were dispatched – totalling seven in just 3 days. To my amazement we still have more squirrels visiting the garden – not sure how many of the things are out there in my local area… but with 7 dispatched squirrel corpses nicely matching counter… there is hope I can clear the local garden population shortly…. I would recommend Goodnature traps UK to everyone with the same issues. One day I hope to recover my garden, trees, plants, lawn and birds. Final note, buy plenty of hazelnut bait – get your trap area nicely prepared, adding bait below the trap too to entice the squirrels. Not everyone will go the whole mile and get the whack but I hope it’s just a matter of time… You definitely need a metal cover guard to stop them eating the trap…. they eat everything else so why not that… so get the cover… lastly, place a good 2 metres off the ground and ideally up a squirrel tree to encourage early interest. As I say 7 down, and many more to go but let’s see how many after a few weeks….?

We have been plagued by squirrels in the loft and have tried everything humanly possible to get rid of them. Nothing worked till we bought the A18. Within 12 hours we had bagged the first one and more followed.
My one regret was not having a suitable camera so I could gauge how many are/were up there, but I am at least confident with the A18 on guard none will survive long.
RedHand (verified owner) –
Works really well. It caught 2 squirrels early on, then I watched confused as the remaining squirrels safely investigated the trap. Eventually I replaced the cartridge – somehow it had been exhausted – and caught another 4 in quick time. I used whole peanuts and a little peanut butter around the trap as bait.

Highly effective trap as I had a major squirrel problem in my London garden which has significantly improved in one week time. I have been using other methods before but nothing was working until I discovered this GoodNature Trap.
Easy to install and it already despatched 12 squirrels in a week time.
William (verified owner) –
I received the A18 only a few days ago. The local grey squirrel population has reduced by 4 in 48 hours. Very happy, as they were becoming a real nuisance and I was concerned they would find their way into my loft.
Easy to install and very humane in its operation. Thanks
Dave (verified owner) –
Arrived on the 10th June and was put up immediately. Easy to install and bait. Took a couple of days (and rebaiting) before the counter had increased with no evidence of dispatch. Today (15th June) it has dispatched 5 with carcasses below to prove the counter is correct. I saw one dispatched myself and it was very quickly done. I was slightly dubious and first due to the price but it has more than proved itself already.
Paddy (verified owner) –
2 days in, 2 squirrels dispatched. Day 1 had no result so I placed a small tray of the bird seed the squirrels had been attracted to below the trap,. I don’t know if this made the difference but result!
Device feels robust and very well made. I would recommend the rain guard as an add-on not just to protect the unit from the elements but also “soften” the visual impact.
However, safety labels should be included!

I have had a squirrel problem in my garden for a couple of years and because of children and dogs didn’t want to use conventional style traps. I discovered the A18 Grey Squirrel Counter Trap after searching for alternative solutions. My Trap arrived on Wednesday morning, it was incredibly easy to set up and is very, very effective. By lunch time it had despatched 3 squirrels, 2 days on and the count is 19!
Great piece of kit, and excellent customer service, couldn’t recommend it more.
